The Spark: The Weight of Seeing Everything at Once
Every time you open a typical task manager, a familiar overwhelm unfolds. Fifty tasks stare back at you. Some from last week, some from last month, some you forgot you added. You scroll, you sort, you filter — and by the time you decide what to work on, the energy to actually do the work is gone.
Most task managers are built to capture everything. They’re great at storing tasks, but bad at helping you focus on the one thing that matters right now. Old tasks hide, priorities drift, and a “quick check of the list” becomes a daily ritual of decision fatigue.
Then, when you want to pick up where you left off yesterday, you end up manually dragging unfinished tasks into today, rewriting descriptions, and reshuffling priorities. The tool designed to reduce work ends up creating more of it.
That’s where Daily Flow comes in.
The Idea: Today First, History Below
What if a task manager showed you today first — and kept the rest of your history quietly available, but out of the way?
What if, instead of managing your list, you just worked?
- Unfinished tasks carry forward to today automatically — no copying, no dragging.
- Only one task can be “In Progress” at a time, so you always know what to focus on.
- Finished tasks sink to the bottom, keeping active work visible.
- Your complete history stays one scroll away, never deleted, never hidden.
Knowledge workers, freelancers, and students would no longer spend the first 15 minutes of their day reorganizing a task list. They’d open the app, see what they’re working on, and start.
This is the core vision of Daily Flow:
A day-first, minimalist task manager that carries your work forward automatically and keeps you focused on one task at a time.
What Problem Are We Solving?
- Decision fatigue from seeing every task you’ve ever added on one screen.
- Manual migration of unfinished tasks from yesterday to today.
- Multitasking disguised as productivity — five “active” tasks, none finished.
- Old task history getting hidden or deleted, losing context and learnings.
- Complex setup, databases, and accounts just to track a handful of tasks.
- Privacy concerns from cloud-first tools that demand your data before they’ll work.
How Daily Flow Solves It
✅ Today-First View:
You open Daily Flow and see today. Past tasks are there, scrolled below, in chronological order — but today is the headline.
✅ Single Active Task:
Only one task can be “In Progress” at a time. Mark a new one active, and the previous one automatically resets. No more five-things-at-once illusion of progress.
✅ Automatic Carry-Forward:
When a new day starts, unfinished tasks move to today automatically. The task that was “In Progress” stays “In Progress.” Other unfinished tasks reset to “No Status” so you can decide what matters today.
✅ Auto-Priority & Smart Sorting:
The active task automatically gets high priority and moves to the top. Then tasks are ordered by priority (high, medium, low). Finished tasks sink to the bottom. You can still drag to reorder anytime.
✅ Zero Setup, Works Offline:
Open it and start. No database, no account, no onboarding. Guest mode stores data in your browser; everything works offline.
✅ Optional Google Drive Sync:
Sign in with Google if you want to access your tasks across devices. If you start as a guest, your data migrates to Drive automatically when you sign in.
✅ Complete History, Always Visible:
Finished tasks stay in their original dates. Scroll down to see what you accomplished last week, last month, last quarter. Learn from your patterns instead of losing them.
✅ Excel Export:
Export all your tasks to Excel anytime for analysis, reporting, or archival. Your data is yours — JSON file format under the hood, easy to back up or move.
How It Works
Every Day Starts Fresh
When you open Daily Flow on a new day:
- Your “In Progress” task from yesterday stays “In Progress” — your active work continues seamlessly.
- Other unfinished tasks reset to “No Status” so you can decide what to prioritize today.
- Finished tasks remain in their original dates for historical reference.
Focus on One Task at a Time
The “In Progress” status is deliberately exclusive:
- Only one task can be active at a time.
- Marking a new task active automatically resets the previously active one.
- The active task gets high priority and moves to the top.
- You avoid multitasking and stay focused on what’s in front of you.
Smart Organization
Tasks sort themselves:
- “In Progress” at the top.
- Then high, medium, low priority.
- Finished tasks at the bottom.
- Drag to reorder manually anytime.
What Makes It Different
1. Today Comes First
Other task managers show you everything. Daily Flow shows you today first, with history below. One small change — less overwhelm, more focus.
2. Everything Happens Automatically
Tasks carry forward. Priorities adjust with status. Sorting just works. You focus on your work, not on managing the tool.
3. Your Data, Your Control
A simple JSON file under the hood. Back it up, move it, edit it directly if you want. No complex databases, no lock-in. Optional Drive sync when you need it.
4. Complete History
Nothing is hidden or deleted. See what you accomplished, track patterns, reference past work, learn from your own history.
5. Single Focus System
The “one In Progress task” rule feels limiting at first — then liberating. No decision paralysis, no multitasking, always a clear next thing.
